Who we are
VariantWise is an independent project built by a two-person team. This page is the honest version of an about page: what we’re trying to do, the rules we hold ourselves to, and where to reach us.
Why this site exists
Buying a car in India means facing a ladder: one model, a dozen or more versions, each a little dearer than the last. Every site can tell you which car to buy. Almost nobody answers the question that actually costs you money: which variant, and is the next one up worth it?
That gap annoyed us enough to build this. VariantWise reads the whole ladder for you, scores every variant against what you said you need, and tells you out loud what stepping up buys and what it doesn’t. The advice comes first, the spec sheet second.
The rules we work by
The manufacturer’s own page wins. When sources disagree on a price or a spec, we take the maker’s published figure over any aggregator, every time, and we record where each figure came from.
Except about itself. On reliability, service quality, real-world mileage and resale, the manufacturer is the least reliable narrator of its own story, so there we only trust independent testers, the press and owners, and a claim needs more than one of them before we’ll show it.
Nothing is invented. A figure we couldn’t verify is left out, not estimated. An empty field on this site is a fact about what we know.
Nobody pays for a ranking. No manufacturer, dealer or aggregator pays us for placement, and no recommendation is sponsored. The scoring is the same arithmetic for every car, and how we rank spells it out step by step.
When we get something wrong
We will, occasionally. Prices move weekly, states rewrite tax rules, and a catalogue this size always has a wrong number hiding somewhere. When you find one, we genuinely want to hear it: what a dealer actually charged you is evidence our daily checks against manufacturer pages can’t see.

Use our data, really
The catalogue and the state road tax tables behind this site are open data, free to reuse with credit. If you’re a journalist, a researcher or just curious, take it: every figure carries its source, and we’ll happily compute a specific cut for you.
