Privacy notice
Last updated 2026-10-12
You can use every page of VariantWise without telling us who you are. This notice covers variantwise.com and any VariantWise app. It says what we hold when you choose to create an account, the little we learn from everyone else’s visits, and what you can do about either.
We only email you what you ask for, and about cars you're watching. The site carries no ads.
Who we are
VariantWise runs variantwise.com and decides how your details are used. For anything in this notice, write to us at hello@variantwise.com.

If you don’t have an account
We don’t know who you are. Your shortlist and the city you choose stay in your own browser. Amplitude counts visits with an anonymous device number and records how pages are used, with every text box hidden. Vercel and Ahrefs count visits without cookies. We use no advertising cookies.
Who handles it for us
- Supabase: Stores your account and runs sign-in, on servers in Mumbai.
- Amplitude: Shows us how the site is used. Once you sign in, it links that to your account and email.
- Google: Sends our emails, from our own mailbox at hello@variantwise.com. Also signs you in, only if you choose Continue with Google.
- Vercel: Hosts the site, and counts visits and the pages read, without cookies.
- Ahrefs: Counts visits and where they came from, without cookies.
They work for us, on what we ask of them. Some of them keep data outside India.
How we reach you
By email, at the address you sign in with: what you ask us to send, the alerts you set, and messages about your account itself, like a sign-in link or a note that it was deleted.
If we add other ways to reach you, such as WhatsApp, text messages or notifications from a VariantWise app, you’ll turn each one on yourself when it’s offered, and you can turn it off just as easily. We’ll ask for anything extra it needs, like a phone number, only then.
Anything new waits for your yes
If we want to use your details in a way this notice doesn’t describe, for example to put you in touch with a dealer about a car you’re considering, we’ll tell you first what it involves and who would receive what, and ask you. Nothing changes for you until you say yes.
How long we keep it
For as long as you have an account. Delete your account and everything above is removed from our database at once, and we ask Amplitude to delete what it holds about you, which it does within 30 days. We keep only what the law requires us to keep, for as long as it requires, and then delete that too.
Your consent, and taking it back
You agree to this notice when you create an account. You can take that back whenever you like, as easily as you gave it, by deleting your account from your account page. Turning alert emails off on the same page stops them without deleting anything.
Your rights
- See a summary of what we hold about you, what we do with it and who handles it for us.
- Correct it, update it or have it deleted. Most of it you can change yourself on your account page.
- Name someone who can use these rights for you if you die or become unable to.
- Turn alert emails off with the Email settings link at the foot of our emails.
- Ask us anything about your data, or complain, at hello@variantwise.com. We answer within 30 days. If we can’t settle it, you can take it to the Data Protection Board of India.
If something goes wrong
If your details are ever caught up in a security breach, we’ll tell you what happened, what it means for you and what we’re doing about it, and report it to the Data Protection Board, as the law requires.
Age
You need to be 18 or older to create an account.
If this notice changes
We’ll update this page and its date, and tell account holders before a change that matters takes effect. We keep a record of which wording each account agreed to.
