Jeep Compass Sport
2.0 Multijet II Diesel (4x2) · 6-speed manual
This is the Compass base model, and the cheapest way into the range at ₹17.99L. Going all the way to the top Model S (O2) would buy you 360° camera, SOS call and Alpine premium sound system, and 20 more.
A genuinely spartan way into a Compass at Rs 17.99 lakh, and it drives like the others: same 170 hp diesel, same frequency-selective damping, six airbags, alloys. What you give up is most of the kit. No sunroof, no cruise control at all, a 3.5in cluster, four speakers, an inflator kit instead of a spare wheel, and nothing connected. The next rung costs Rs 5.64 lakh more, so go in knowing this is a big step down, not a small one.

Powertrain
An old-school big-hearted diesel that pulls hard from just above idle and makes long drives easy, and Jeep's own figure of 17.1 km/l is genuinely good for something this solid. The nine-speed automatic suits it far better than the manual, which is a long-throw thing you notice in traffic
