A genuinely spartan way into a Compass at Rs 17.99 lakh, and it drives like the others: same 170 hp diesel, same frequency-selective damping, six airbags, alloys. What you give up is most of the kit. No sunroof, no cruise control at all, a 3.5in cluster, four speakers, an inflator kit instead of a spare wheel, and nothing connected. The next rung costs Rs 5.64 lakh more, so go in knowing this is a big step down, not a small one.

The catch is that Jeep only prices it as a manual, so there is no cruise control on this trim at any price, and no automatic to move up to without changing trim entirely.
