Longitude or Longitude Plus, and what each costs
Where you start
Longitude
From ₹23.33L to ₹27.53L ex-showroom Delhi
One thing first, because it is easy to miss at this price: the Longitude seats five, not seven. Jeep leaves the third row out and gives you a 670-litre boot in its place, so if you came here for seven seats you want the Longitude Plus. What you do get is the full safety kit, six airbags, ESC and TPMS, the 10.1in screen with wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, and exactly the same engine as the top of the range.
The step up
Longitude Plus
From ₹26.30L to ₹29.39L ex-showroom Delhi
The one most families actually want. Just under Rs 3 lakh over the Longitude buys the 50/50 fold-flat third row, which makes this the cheapest seven-seat Meridian, and it throws in the dual-pane sunroof, wireless charging and cornering fog lamps. You still go without the Alpine audio, the 360 camera and connected car tech.
Our take
What Longitude to Longitude Plus costs on the road
What you pay for this step depends on where you register it: ₹3,17,790 to ₹3,65,310 on the road, against the ₹2,97,000 the price list shows.
Why the road figure moves, and by how much
Road tax is charged on what the car costs, so moving up a trim moves the tax up with it. The ₹2,97,000 is the distance between two price tags; the road figures add the tax and the charges that difference attracts.
The rate is your state's to choose, and they do not choose alike, so this one step is worth ₹47,520 more in one place than in another. Of the 25 states we can price this step in, Gujarat, Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram are level at the lowest, and Kerala comes out highest.
Only the rate where the car is registered applies to you, so hold a dealer's quote against your own state's figure rather than the range. The range is still worth knowing: it is why two owners can quote this step to each other, differ by ₹47,520, and both be right.
What the Longitude Plus adds
