Which Mahindra XEV 9e variant should you buy?

Rupee for rupee the ladder pays best at Pack Two: ₹3.00L more than Pack One, and of the steps you pay extra for and we can price like for like, none hands back more kit per rupee on the price list. Pack Three Select to Cineluxe Edition looks cheaper per feature than that, and is left out of the comparison because it changes the engine or the gearbox too: its price is not the price of its kit.

6 variants5 trims₹21.90L to ₹30.50L ex-showroom Delhi

Above that, the only upgrade left we can price on its kit alone is Pack Three Select, at ₹3.00L over Pack Two. Take it because you want what it adds, not because it is next.

One more upgrade above the best-value step is left out of that ranking, because it changes the engine or the gearbox too and its price is not the price of its kit.

How this is worked out
Every step below compares the cheapest way into one trim with the cheapest way into the next, then weighs what the money buys against what it costs. No opinion is added on top, and nothing is rounded in a trim's favour. Read the full method.

What each step up actually buys

  1. +₹3.00L (₹21.90L to ₹24.90L)

    Why
Best value of the variants you pay for: no other paid step hands back more kit per rupee on the price list.
    • Front parking sensors
    • ADASLevel 2 (core suite)
    • Wheel typeSteel → Alloy
    • Speakers6 → 16
    • Premium sound systemHarman Kardon
    • Surround sound (Dolby Atmos)
    • and 6 more

  2. +₹3.00L (₹24.90L to ₹27.90L)

    Why
Nothing above the best-value step asks more for what it adds. Worth it only if you want this kit specifically.
    • Airbags6 → 7
    • 360° camera
    • Rear window sunshades
    • Ventilated front seats
    • Frequency-selective dampers
    • Air purifier

  3. +₹1.45L (₹27.90L to ₹29.35L)

There is no like-for-like way up here: the cheapest Cineluxe Edition moves from 59 kWh Electric to 79 kWh Electric, so that figure covers the powertrain as well as the kit.

    • Blind spot monitor
    • ADASLevel 2 (core suite) → Level 2 (full suite)
    • Puddle lamps
    • Head-up display
    • Ambient lighting

  4. +₹1.15L (₹29.35L to ₹30.50L)

None of the equipment we track changes here, and this trim opens up no engine the one below cannot have. Worth asking a dealer what the money buys before you spend it.

Why some steps are not ranked
Not every variant here is a straight upgrade. One changes none of the equipment we track, so it is shown in full but left out of the value ranking rather than dressed up as a step up.

What the road does to this ranking

Where you register does not change which step is the best buy here. Pack One to Pack Two asks the least money for each point of kit it hands over on the price list, and that holds once road tax is counted too, in all 21 of the states we can price this ladder in.

Why the road could have changed this, and did not

Every price on this page is the showroom's. States charge their road tax as a share of that price and step the share up in bands, so a trim that carries a car past a band boundary is charged for the whole boundary. A ranking worked out on the price list is not automatically the ranking you pay.

Take the badged step, Pack One to Pack Two: ₹3,00,000 on the price list, and anywhere from ₹3,03,000 to ₹3,45,000 on the road. 13 of them are level at the lowest, and Assam comes out highest, across the 21 states behind that range. Every other step moves by its own amount, and that is what can reorder them.

We ranked all 2 of the steps we can compare like for like again in each of those states, and the order came back the same every time. So the badge above is safe to act on wherever you buy the car.
