Powertrain
An old-fashioned big diesel in the best sense: 350 Nm arriving from 1,750 rpm makes a heavy seven-seater feel unhurried on a highway, and the nine-speed automatic keeps it quiet rather than quick

What the Trail Edition Diesel AT costs on the road
The price above is ex-showroom. With road tax, registration and the rest of the charges counted in, the Trail Edition Diesel AT comes to ₹35,46,828 on the road in Ahmedabad and ₹40,72,788 in Kochi.
Road tax is set by the state rather than by the maker, so where you register decides ₹5,25,960 of what you pay for the identical car. Of the 25 states we can price this variant in, Gujarat, Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram are level at the lowest, and Kerala comes out highest. You pay it where you live, so take this as a reason to check the quote you were given, not as a way to save money.
Comprehensive own-damage cover is on top of both figures: it has been market-priced since 2007 and moves with the insurer, the cover value and your no-claim bonus, so no honest single number exists for it. Budget for it from real quotes.

The full story
At ₹32.86L ex-showroom Delhi this is the seventh of 13 Meridian variants by price, ₹2.41L above the Limited (O) Diesel MT. The same Trail Edition features start at ₹2.47L less as the Trail Edition Diesel MT; the extra here buys the Diesel with the 9-speed torque-converter auto. Worth a hard look before you sign: the cheapest Limited (O) actually costs ₹2.41L less than this variant and buys leatherette upholstery. That price is a different engine or gearbox though: keeping the Diesel with the 9-speed torque-converter auto, the Limited (O) starts at ₹34.19L.
More about the Trail Edition trim
Limited (O)'s equipment for a little less: Rs 6,000 under it on the manual and Rs 1.33 lakh under it on the automatic, with a gloss black roof, skid plates, camo appliques and Trail badging. The trade is the seats: black vinyl with ruby red accents instead of the Limited (O)'s vegan leather. If that suits you, the automatic is the standout saving.
Jeep Meridian Trail Edition: the questions people ask
Price, on-road total, engine and what this trim goes without.
- What is the price of the Jeep Meridian Trail Edition Diesel AT?
- ₹32.86L, ex-showroom Delhi. That makes it 7th of 13 by price, ₹2.41L above the Limited (O) Diesel MT.
- What is the on-road price of the Jeep Meridian Trail Edition Diesel AT?
- Expect ₹35,46,828 in Ahmedabad and ₹40,72,788 in Kochi. Road tax is set by the state rather than by the maker, so the identical car costs ₹5,25,960 more at one end of the country than the other. That is the ex-showroom price plus road tax, registration and the rest of the charges, across the 25 states we have verified. It does not include comprehensive own-damage cover, which every insurer prices differently.
- Which engine and gearbox does the Jeep Meridian Trail Edition Diesel AT have?
- The Diesel, 170 PS, with the 9-speed torque-converter auto.
- What features does the Jeep Meridian Trail Edition Diesel AT get?
- The features worth naming on this trim: 360° camera, Premium sound system (Alpine), Ventilated front seats, Connected car tech, Third-row AC vents and Powered driver seat (8-way).
- What does the Jeep Meridian Trail Edition Diesel AT miss out on?
- The Limited (O) above it adds leatherette upholstery, for ₹2.41L less. That is the cheapest way into the Limited (O) though, on a different engine or gearbox: keeping this one, it is ₹1.33L more.
- Is the Trail Edition the right Meridian to buy?
- That depends on where the value sits across the whole range rather than on this trim alone, and we work it out variant by variant on our Jeep Meridian which-variant page. The short answer: pay for a step only where the features it adds are ones you would actually use.
