Our take

The real reason to pay ₹1.61L more for the Elevate ZX: level 2 (core suite) ADAS, blind spot monitor and single-pane sunroof. The useful extras on top: touchscreen (10.25" against 7") and wireless CarPlay / Android Auto. The rest of the additions are minor trim. At that price, we would stretch.

  • Only the Tata Safari seats 7, worth knowing if you need the space
  • The Safari Smart is the strongest of the two at 170 PS
  • Also on the Elevate ZX: connected car tech, rear parking camera, speakers (8 against 4) and driver display (7" digital against Semi-digital), and some minor trim beyond that
  • Going to the Elevate ZX, you give up all-wheel disc brakes, drive modes and headlamps (Bi-LED projector against LED projector), which the Safari Smart keeps
Choose the Tata Safari Smart if
You would rather keep the ₹1.61L than pay for kit you will not miss
Choose the Honda Elevate ZX if
You will do long stints in this car and want the daily comforts
